GLOCAL

Fresh Church is community minded and intentional in seeking to make a local as well as global impact...Glocal...it's the FRESH way. The term "glocal" is used to describe the modern phenomenon of connectivity between technology, travel, vocation, business, communication, and everything else pertaining to the world flattening out, or merging. Cooperation, innovation, and creativity will converge on something amazing...and FRESH is going to be part of it!

Going glocal at FRESH means not just sending, but going. Capitalizing on glocal realities means everyone in the church participates in local, regional, national, and international missions. It's not segregating missions to just another ministry for FRESH, it is something we do every day. We are actively involved in sharing Jesus, creating opportunities to connect, discipling believers, meeting on a regular basis for worship, plus supporting and serving ministries at home and around the globe. We don't just talk about it or send money, we do and we go!

We believe two things: The church is THE Missionary, and Life is a MISSION!

Fresh's glocal reach begins at home, ministering within our own Fresh family and in our community, with our purpose being to share the Gospel and bring people to Christ through serving them. Over the past five years, we have partnered with organizations in our community in  myriad ways: helping stock a local food pantry, participating in prison ministry, feeding and clothing the homeless, assisting the start of a Celebrate Recovery program, leading worship at a Columbia Fireflies baseball game, and helping to fund a crisis pregnancy ministry. Within our church family we have served each other to promote growth in Christ, and have led many to baptism each year.

Thousands are coming to Christ every day in Asia, and God has put our church on the front line of service to meet their needs. They need more Bibles and they need more leaders. Fresh will continue to go as God provides. Partnering with Simple Ministries, Fresh sends a Glocal Impact Team to Asia several times annually to distribute Bibles and presentations of the Gospel for children, and to train pastors and lay leaders in how to use the Study Bible we provide.

Fresh dispatched teams in 2016 and 2017 to the Detroit area to scout out opportunities to partner with church planters. Fresh built relationships with several of the front-line pastors who were working on starting churches in the metro Detroit area and across the river in Windsor, Ontario. We have assisted a new church in Windsor by donating a sound system to them. Our worship team later traveled to lead worship and provide assistance for the launch of a new church in Detroit. We continue to provide prayer and assistance to the efforts of the Detroit-area church planters.

During the 2018 Christmas season, Fresh Church launched its annual shoebox collection for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ.  These simple gifts are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.

In 2016, Fresh began supporting Jonathan and Bekah Pifer, missionaries to Shell, Ecuador. Jonathan grew up in the area of Shell, Ecuador where Jim Eliot and his friends were martyred for the Gospel. The Pifers served in Quito, Ecuador for one year and are now excited to follow Christ’s lead to Shell. Jonathan and Bekah believe in gospel centered, relational ministry, and anticipate using their backgrounds in theatre and visual arts in service to the Shell community.

Matt Lawson provides the sound each week for the worship services of Fresh Church. He also allows the Fresh Band to rehearse each week at a warehouse he owns. Matt asked that, instead of Fresh paying him for the hours of hard work he does each week for our church,  we redirect the money to Life-International on his behalf, to support that organization's work of building clean-water wells and schools in Zimbabwe.

"Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you."

-Matthew 28:19,20
